Special Bust A Move Montreal dancing diaries
And yet another dancing diaries segment, this time with the help of Fon for a discussion of the urban dance competition Bust A Move VI of May 9th, and a masterclass with Poppin’ Pete from the 10th.
More dancing diaries
Now on their own page! and with most of the links fixed for download.
This step is on belly dancing, and included a class and interview with Maya Baladi. Again it is a bilingual segment, Montreal style i.e. without translation. They are the Montreal dancing diaries, after all…
I am thinking about trying to podcast these but I need to develop more promo material – like having picture of these dancing adventures. Maybe I need a photographer, by which I mean a friend who will take picture of me for fun, not profit.
Updates to Audio Page
I am still getting the hang of how to work with this word press stuff. Maybe not how things are intended to be, but check out the Audio page for links to more of the Dancing Diaries and an interview I did in March.
I’m also started a myfolia account to keep track of my garden progress through this summer.
How much documentation does one life need?
Songwriter project
The singersongwriter project is underway. I’ve interviewed four artists on their compositional techniques, transcribed two of these interviews, and I am hoping to finish editing them soon into something listenable soon. I am looking for cues as to what is being control for emotional effect, in particular how these musicians define what the music is communicating in relation and comparison to the lyrics.
The standard interview focuses on a single recently composed song. We discuss the piece’s beginnings, some of the compositional decisions, the meaning of the piece, how it came to be completed and what changes with performance considerations.
Around the dancing diaries, I haven’t had much extra editing time, but I’ve got hopes for the next few weeks.
